VoxHaven Community Guidelines

VoxHaven is a digital storytelling platform created for LGBTQIA+ people, questioning folks, and supportive allies. These guidelines explain how we expect everyone to behave so that VoxHaven can remain a safe, kind, and affirming space. By using VoxHaven, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Our Core Principles

Everything in VoxHaven is guided by four core principles:

  • Safety: Protecting the emotional and physical safety of queer and questioning people.
  • Respect: Honoring people’s identities, pronouns, boundaries, and lived experiences.
  • Support, not therapy: VoxHaven offers peer support and resources, but it is not a substitute for professional care or emergency services.
  • Privacy: Safeguarding the confidentiality of our members and the people they talk about in their stories.

2. Respect, Inclusion & Anti-Harassment

VoxHaven is for LGBTQIA+ people and allies. We have zero tolerance for hate or harassment.

  • Do not use slurs, demeaning language, or stereotypes about queer people or any protected group (including race, religion, disability, ethnicity, or gender).
  • Do not intentionally misgender, deadname, or invalidate someone’s identity.
  • No targeted harassment, bullying, doxxing, dogpiling, or coordinated attacks on any individual or group.
  • Disagree with ideas, not people. Critique should be thoughtful and not personal attacks.

3. Privacy, Anonymity & Confidentiality

Many people use VoxHaven because they are not out or feel unsafe in other spaces. Protect their privacy and your own.

  • Do not share other people’s personal information (names, addresses, workplaces, schools, phone numbers, social handles, etc.).
  • Do not “out” anyone or reveal their sexual orientation or gender identity without their explicit consent.
  • When sharing stories involving others, remove or change identifying details unless you have clear permission.
  • Do not pressure others to reveal personal details they are not ready to share.

4. Safety, Self-Harm & Crisis Content

It is okay to talk about difficult experiences, but we need to keep the community safe and avoid encouraging harm.

  • You may discuss mental health, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts in a non-graphic way to seek support or share your story.
  • Do not post graphic details, instructions, or content that glorifies or encourages self-harm, suicide, or violence.
  • Never encourage someone to hurt themselves or anyone else.
  • VoxHaven is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis hotline in your region.

5. Age & Boundaries

VoxHaven is currently intended for adults (18+) unless otherwise stated in our Terms of Service.

  • Do not share sexual content involving minors, ever, even when describing past experiences.
  • Grooming, sexual advances toward minors, or attempts to move conversations with minors off-platform are strictly prohibited.
  • Respect other people’s boundaries around topics, intensity, and level of connection.

6. Sensitive, Explicit & Triggering Content

Stories can include hard topics, but we balance honesty with care for the community.

  • Non-graphic discussion of sexuality, relationships, trauma, and discrimination is allowed.
  • Graphic sexual content, explicit images, pornography, and fetish-oriented content are not allowed on VoxHaven.
  • Graphic depictions of violence or self-harm may be removed or hidden at the discretion of the moderation team.
  • When sharing potentially triggering content, please consider adding a brief content/trigger warning.

7. Spam, Promotion & Scams

VoxHaven is a support-focused space, not a marketing channel.

  • No spam, mass-messaging, or repetitive promotional posts.
  • No scams, fraudulent schemes, or attempts to solicit money under false pretenses.
  • Self-promotion (projects, services, fundraising, etc.) is only allowed where explicitly permitted by VoxHaven and must follow any posted rules.

8. Moderation, Enforcement & Appeals

To protect the community, VoxHaven staff and moderators may review content and take action when guidelines are violated.

  • We may edit, limit the visibility of, or remove content that violates these guidelines or our Terms of Service.
  • We may warn, restrict, suspend, or permanently ban accounts, depending on the severity and frequency of violations.
  • Serious violations (such as hate, threats of violence, sexual abuse, or exploitation of minors) can result in immediate removal and may be escalated to relevant authorities where required by law.
  • If you believe we have made a mistake, you may contact our support team to request a review or appeal a moderation decision.

9. Reporting Concerns

Everyone helps keep VoxHaven safe. If you see something that concerns you:

  • Use the in-app report tools where available, or contact us through the support channels listed in the app or on our website.
  • Avoid engaging directly with abusive or harmful content—report it instead.
  • Provide as much context as you can so our team can review the situation quickly and fairly.

10. Final Notes

These guidelines may evolve as VoxHaven grows and we learn from our community. We will do our best to communicate significant changes.
